Collingwood Monument

A striking 23-metre monument erected in 1845 to honour Admiral Lord Collingwood, Nelson's second-in-command at Trafalgar. Stands on the headland overlooking the mouth of the Tyne with four cannons from his flagship, the Royal Sovereign. Free to visit.
