About Tynemouth Park and Boating Lake

Tynemouth Park is a much-loved traditional seaside park set just back from Longsands, between the beach and the coast road towards Whitley Bay. Its centrepiece is the boating lake, where families can hire pedaloes and rowing boats in the summer season and potter about on the water, a simple old-fashioned pleasure that keeps children happy for an hour. Around the lake there is open green space for picnics and games, mature planting, and plenty of room to run about away from the sand.

The park also has a children's play area, seasonal crazy golf and a cafe kiosk, making it an easy, inexpensive family stop that pairs naturally with a morning on the beach. It is a short, level walk from Longsands and the village, with parking along Grand Parade nearby. Free to enter, with small charges for the boats and activities, it is a dependable option for younger children and a gentler alternative to the open beach on a breezy day.
