The Cumberland Arms is a traditional pub at 17 Front Street in the heart of Tynemouth village, a short walk from the seafront and the ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle. Housed in a red-brick and faience Victorian building dating from 1898, it reopened in September 2021 following an extensive renovation that gave it a contemporary feel while retaining its character. Arranged over three levels linked by shallow steps, it is a cosy, welcoming spot that is both child- and dog-friendly, with a real fire, a garden and Sky Sports for live football.

The pub pairs a good selection of cask ales and gin with freshly made, authentic British comfort food. Its menu runs from everyday pub classics to a well-regarded Sunday roast, and it has become one of the most popular pubs on Front Street.
