About Splash and Swim

Splash and Swim is an independent swim school serving Whitley Bay and the wider North Tyneside area, teaching babies, toddlers, children and adults. Lessons take place in school and sports-centre pools including Woodlawn School in Monkseaton, Beacon Hill School in Wallsend, Percy Hedley School in Killingworth and Benfield Sports Centre in Newcastle. The school was memorably named by a five-year-old named Lewis, on the logic that you learn to splash before you learn to swim, and has built a reputation for small class sizes and patient, encouraging teaching.

Having started out teaching primary-school-aged children, the school has since broadened its provision to cover the full journey through the water. Little Splashers sessions offer a gentle parent-and-baby introduction, while Little Swimmers classes take children aged three to four into the pool without their parents, alongside lessons for more advanced young swimmers and adults. Teaching follows the national Swim England Learn to Swim award scheme, and all teachers are qualified lifesavers trained in infant resuscitation.
