About Tynemouth Pool

Tynemouth Pool is a North Tyneside Council leisure facility on Preston Road North in North Shields, and one of five leisure centres run across the borough. It is part of the council's Contours membership network, which links gym access, swimming and fitness classes across all five sites. A long-standing fixture for swimmers and clubs on the coast, it hosts regular swimming galas and serves as a training base for local swimming clubs.

At its heart is a 25-metre swimming pool, complemented by an eight-metre boom pool, a teaching pool and diving boards, making it well suited to lessons, lane swimming and competition alike. The centre also has a Contours gym, exercise class studios and a health suite. Facilities are designed for accessibility, with disabled parking, automatic entrance doors, a poolside hoist, accessible changing and a hearing loop at reception. The gym opens early on weekday mornings.
