Percy Park RFC

Rugby union club founded in 1872 and playing at Preston Avenue since 1896, with a large modern clubhouse that doubles as one of the biggest function venues between Tynemouth and North Shields.

About Percy Park RFC

Percy Park RFC is one of the oldest rugby union clubs in the North East, founded in 1872 and settled at its Preston Avenue ground since 1896. The club bought the ground outright in 1949 and opened a new clubhouse in 1955, replacing it again in 1998 with the modern building that stands today. Senior sides compete in the national league pyramid, and the club runs mini, junior and ladies rugby alongside its first team, making Preston Avenue one of the busiest sporting sites in North Tyneside.

The clubhouse is also a substantial hire venue in its own right, available to non-members for weddings, parties, wakes and corporate events. It accommodates up to 350 people, seating around 300 at long tables or 200 at rounds, and can be used as one large room or partitioned into smaller sections. There are two fully stocked bars, a sound system with PA, a balcony, lift access for less mobile guests, and in-house catering and disco. Ample free car parking on site is a genuine advantage in an area where seafront spaces are scarce. Enquiries go to the clubhouse manager.
