Allard's Lounge

About Allard's Lounge

Allard's Lounge is a café bar and restaurant on Front Street in Tynemouth village, a short walk from the award-winning beaches and Tynemouth Priory. It first opened in the summer of 2011 as a small and cosy tapas bar, and expanded in 2015 to add a dog-friendly café bar downstairs and a more formal restaurant space upstairs. The building carries genuine local history: in the late 1800s it housed Allard's Grocery and Provision Merchants, which was locally famous for selling a distinctive 'Golden Tip Tea'. The venue keeps a friendly, community-minded atmosphere.

Food and drink are served seven days a week, from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, with a Mediterranean-inspired menu of tapas and small plates alongside pizzas and burgers. The venue runs regular events including quiz nights and live music, and offers recurring deals such as reduced-price pizzas on Thursdays and burgers on Mondays. The relaxed downstairs bar suits a casual drink or a stop after a coastal dog walk, while the upstairs restaurant is geared towards sit-down dining and social occasions.
