About YMCA Gym

YMCA Gym is a community gym on Church Way in central North Shields, run by YMCA North Tyneside. As a charity-owned facility, it combines affordable fitness with a social mission: all proceeds from joining and membership fees help support vulnerable young people across North Tyneside. This community ethos sets it apart from commercial gyms in the town.

The gym offers a full programme of classes alongside its equipment, with flexible ways to join ranging from pay-as-you-go and four-week passes to rolling direct debit memberships. Membership categories cater to standard members, students and seniors, under-18s and those on benefits, and a refer-a-friend scheme rewards both parties with a free month. It opens early on weekday mornings with off-peak options through the day.
