About North Shields Juniors AFC
North Shields Juniors AFC is one of the largest football clubs in the area, and a natural home for Tynemouth children who want to play the game. Established in 1996 with just three junior teams, it has grown into a club running dozens of sides across mini-soccer, junior, adult and girls' football, catering for players from around age seven upwards. Its teams play across several North Shields sites, including Preston Playing Field at Monks Wood (NE30 2UD), which sits between Tynemouth Pool and North Shields Rugby Club, only a short distance from Tynemouth village.
The club offers a genuine pathway from a child's first mini-soccer sessions right through the age groups and on into open-age football, with dedicated girls' and women's provision alongside the boys' teams. As a volunteer-run community club it is always keen to hear from new players, coaches and helpers, and its spread of local pitches makes it one of the most accessible ways for coastal families to get involved in the grassroots game.
