About North Shields FC

North Shields FC, nicknamed The Robins, are the senior football club that Tynemouth supporters follow most closely, playing their home matches just up the road at the Daren Persson Stadium at Ralph Gardner Park in North Shields (NE29 0SS). Founded in 1896 as North Shields Athletic, the club competes in the Northern League Division One at Step 5 of the non-league pyramid, in a division full of North East rivals. The compact 1,500-capacity ground is a short walk from both Meadow Well and North Shields Metro stations, making it an easy trip for a Saturday afternoon of affordable, community-minded football.

The Robins carry one of the region's proudest non-league stories. In 2015 they came from behind to beat Glossop North End 2-1 after extra time in the FA Vase final at Wembley, echoing their FA Amateur Cup triumph on the same pitch back in 1969. Admission is modest, there is a clubhouse and refreshments on match days, and families are made welcome, so a home game is one of the best introductions to real local football anywhere on the coast.
