Di Meo's

Award-winning Italian gelato family, making ice cream to a recipe dating back to 1925. The North Shields parlour on Percy Park Road serves classic and inventive flavours, with a good vegan and dairy-free range.

About Di Meo's

Di Meo's is an Italian family-run gelateria whose recipe traces back to around 1925, when Isidoro Di Meo, having travelled from a mountain village in Southern Italy to the North East, started a small ice cream business churned by hand. Generations on, the family still makes its gelato fresh by hand every day following the secret family recipe, using quality ingredients and creamy milk sourced from local dairy farms. The Tynemouth parlour sits on Percy Park Road near the Grand Parade, with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere aimed at families and friends.

The parlour serves the family's award-winning gelato in classic and inventive flavours that change regularly, alongside a vegan and dairy-free range. Di Meo's has earned national recognition, including 3-star Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food, and forms part of a small group of North East locations that also includes Ouseburn in Newcastle and Whitley Bay.
