About Longsands Fish Kitchen

Longsands Fish Kitchen is an award-winning fish and chip restaurant and takeaway at 27 Front Street, in the heart of Tynemouth village. Founded around a decade ago by chef Simon Walsh, who brought a fine-dining background to the venture, it has grown into one of the coast's best-regarded seafood spots, drawing consistently strong reviews for its cooking.

The kitchen champions fresh, local and sustainable seafood, with a menu that changes daily around what the local boats have landed. Alongside classic fish and chips, dishes have included Shetland mussels, grilled lobster, shucked oysters, monkfish and prawn curry and roast turbot. The restaurant is committed to responsible sourcing, with its cod and haddock certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, and it is recognised as an MSC Ocean Ambassador.
