About 3rd Tynemouth (Ritson's Own) Scout Group

3rd Tynemouth (Ritson's Own) Scout Group is part of the Tynemouth Scouts district, which covers Tynemouth, North Shields and the wider North Tyneside area. It meets at its own Scout headquarters on Billy Mill Lane in North Shields, close to Tynemouth, and offers young people the mix of friendship, adventure and skills for life that Scouting is known for. Like all Scout groups it runs on the goodwill of volunteers, so popular sections can have waiting lists and it is worth registering an interest early.

The group runs three sections during term time: Beavers, for ages six to eight, meeting on a Tuesday evening; Cubs, for ages eight to ten and a half, meeting on a Wednesday; and Scouts, for ages ten and a half to fourteen, meeting on a Tuesday. Alongside the weekly programme of games, crafts and badge work there are camps, hikes, days out and activities such as airgun instruction. Places are open to boys and girls, and the group, like most across the district, is usually keen to hear from adults who can help as volunteers.
