Three charity shops on Bedford Street in North Shields -- BHF, St Oswald's Hospice, and YMCA -- all within steps of each other.

Tynemouth.live·

Tynemouth village itself does not have charity shops on Front Street, but nearby North Shields has a useful cluster on Bedford Street, just a few minutes' drive or a short Metro ride away. Three shops sit almost side by side.

British Heart Foundation

British Heart Foundation at 48 Bedford Street (Unit 38, Beacon Centre) sells preloved clothing, shoes, accessories, books, toys, and homeware. The Beacon Centre location means easy parking. Open Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 5pm and Sundays 10am to 4pm.

Best for: Beacon Centre location, Sunday opening, wide range of stock.

St Oswald's Hospice

St Oswald's Hospice at 49 Bedford Street operates as a clearance store, which means you can find furniture alongside clothing, books, bric-a-brac, and homeware. Because it is a clearance format, prices can be particularly good. Open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4:30pm. All profits support St Oswald's Hospice.

Best for: Clearance store format, furniture, good prices.

YMCA Charity Shop

The YMCA at 53 Bedford Street sells clothing, homeware, books, and bric-a-brac. It has some of the longest opening hours of any charity shop in the area — Monday to Saturday 9am to 5:30pm and Sundays 9am to 5pm. All profits support YMCA housing and community programmes for young people.

Best for: Long opening hours, open seven days, supports youth housing.

The Bedford Street Circuit

All three shops are within a few metres of each other on Bedford Street, making it easy to visit all of them in one trip. If you are coming from Tynemouth, take the Metro to North Shields or drive down to the Beacon Centre car park.
