Working Well Employment Hub Moves to North Shields Community Hub and Library
Free one-to-one employability support in North Shields has relocated into the town's community hub and library, keeping the Working Well service running for local residents.
Free, face-to-face help for anyone looking for work in North Shields has a new home. North Tyneside Council's Working Well employment hub has moved into the North Shields Community Hub and Library, bringing its one-to-one support under the same roof as the town's library, computers and other council services.
The move matters because it keeps a well-used service running and easier to reach for people across North Shields and the wider coast. Rather than making an appointment somewhere separate, residents can now find employability help in the same building where they already come to use free computers, get housing advice or take part in regular activities.
Working Well offers personalised one-to-one support for people at any stage of looking for work. That includes help with skills, training and volunteering opportunities, guidance on health and wellbeing, and practical assistance with overcoming barriers to employment and building confidence. Advisers can also connect people to other local specialist services when they are needed.
The hub closed at its previous premises, only a few doors away, on Thursday 13 August, and reopened at the North Shields Community Hub and Library on Monday 17 August. The service itself continues unchanged; only the location has moved.
Best for:
The North Shields Community Hub and Library already offers free computers, housing advice and regular community activities. Adding the Working Well team means employment support now sits alongside those services in one place.
Bringing the employment hub together with the library follows a wider pattern of grouping council services into shared community hubs, so that someone coming in for one thing can pick up help with another. For residents in North Shields, that means job-hunting support, digital access and everyday advice are all available under one roof.
Anyone who would like help can contact the Working Well North Tyneside team or call in at the North Shields Community Hub and Library. Full details are on the North Tyneside Council website.
