Spotlight: Jade Harrison School of Dance
A purpose-built dance school in North Shields with two studios, an on-site theatre, and RAD and IDTA examination pathways from age three upwards.
Since opening in March 2006, Jade Harrison School of Dance has grown into one of North Tyneside's most established dance schools, offering classes in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and acrobatic arts from its purpose-built premises in the heart of New York Village, North Shields.
Facilities That Set It Apart
The school occupies a dedicated building at 242 New York Road with two large dance studios, a relaxing cafe area with Wi-Fi for waiting parents, private changing rooms, and a large car park to the rear. Most impressively, it has its own on-site theatre seating up to eighty, complete with professional lighting, sound system, and curtains — giving students regular performance experience without the need to hire external venues.
Examinations and Accreditation
Jade Harrison is a registered teacher with both the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). Students can work towards formal examinations in ballet through the RAD syllabus and in modern jazz and tap through IDTA, providing nationally recognised qualifications alongside the enjoyment of dance.
Classes for All Ages
The school welcomes dancers from age three, with pre-school ballet classes forming the entry point for the youngest movers. From there, students can progress through graded classes in multiple disciplines, building technique and confidence year on year. An on-site dancewear shop means parents can pick up shoes, leotards, and accessories without a separate trip.
Whether your child dreams of the stage or simply loves to move, this school offers a supportive, well-equipped environment to develop their passion.
